How is the siding on your home? Is it time to replace it? If so, you have a wide range of different materials to choose from. One that we are considering today is aluminum. This metal is not just used for soda cans, it also makes a good siding material that has been in use for a long time. While it isn’t the cheapest, it will hold up a lot better than the cheaper alternatives. In fact, you have the choice of different thickness to make it even more durable. Aluminum is not affected by temperature, wood-destroying insects or cold weather. It offers good protection against the elements and isn’t likely to catch fire from a stray ember.

This is not to say that there aren’t any downsides to aluminum. It is fairly difficult to replace a single section of aluminum. Sometimes you will need to remove several before you can get the one you want to be replaced. You can paint it, but it will need upkeep. As always, you will need to weigh the benefits against the shortcomings to come to the best conclusion for your home.
