Most homes have gutters on their roofs, as well as downspouts, to funnel the water that falls on your roof away without causing too much of a mess, but there is a problem if your gutters or downspouts get clogged. This is especially common when you have a lot of trees near your home that will drop leaves and branches on your roof. When your gutter gets clogged, the water will back up, and many times this can lead to some serious water damage. The way your roof is built, it can handle water running off of it, but standing water, or water that is rising, can get into places that aren’t that well protected. This can cause issues like mold, rust, rot and similar situations that can damage your home.
To prevent it from happening, you need to be alert to the weather and make sure that your roof is clear whenever there is an impending rainstorm.
