When you go to buy a home, it would be nice if you could trust the seller to be completely upfront with you, but that isn’t always the case, is it? Your home inspector should be alert to anything that is an attempt to hide a problem that would become yours at the time of purchase. So what are signs that there might be something that is slightly off?
One thing to keep an eye out for is furniture or carpets that appear to be in odd spots. Many times this can hide scratches or cracks in the flooring, or even buckling floor tiles.
If there are candles burning and air-fresheners throughout the home, there is most likely some type of odor that they are trying to cover up. It could possibly be a mold problem, which would prove to be a major issue if not dealt with.
If there are apparent repairs or fresh paint in odd places, you should find out what the reason was, since there could be a leak causing water damage or some other underlying problem.
