Every day, you open, close and walk through doors uncountable times. You might not spend much time thinking about it, in fact you might not even be able to tell me right now which door you used last. Doors might not be on the top of your list of things that could go wrong with your home, but a door could run you around $100 with the added cost of installation. A door is subjected to quite a bit of force as it swings on its hinges. This shear force could damage the door if it isn’t installed correctly.
A properly installed door starts with a square, plumb and firmly attached door-frame. If your door-frame isn’t securely in place, it could shift when the door is used. The door should also be attached to the frame with sufficient length screws so it doesn’t come loose over time. Installing a door correctly is not a simple job, so you should not attempt to do it yourself if you don’t have the experience.
